Our Story/Nuestra historia

Our story began long before our first bakery opened its doors.

We are originally from Guatemala, where our love for our culture and traditions first took root. After meeting in 2006, we built a life together in Los Angeles, working in sewing factories for nearly 18 years. Like many hardworking immigrant families, we worked long hours to provide for our family, but making ends meet was never easy.

When the COVID-19 pandemic changed everything in 2020, the factories closed and we suddenly found ourselves without work. Although we had lost our jobs, we never lost our determination. We still had rent to pay, food to put on the table, and a family depending on us.

With the little we had, we began cooking authentic Guatemalan meals from our home and selling them to workers at local sewing factories. We also turned part of our apartment into a small market, offering imported Guatemalan products that were difficult to find in our community. At the same time, we sold fresh fruit on the streets, doing whatever we could to support our family.

Soon, another idea was born.

We realized that many people in Los Angeles had never experienced the unique flavors of traditional Guatemalan bread. With a small cart and a lot of hope, we began selling freshly baked Guatemalan bread on the streets of Westlake. Day after day, we built relationships with our customers, who became part of our journey and encouraged us to dream even bigger.

Through hard work, perseverance, and the support of our community, we were able to save enough to open our very first bakery in North Hollywood—a milestone that represented years of sacrifice and faith.

As our dream continued to grow, so did our mission. We wanted to make it easier for families to find the products that reminded them of home, so we opened Guatemalan markets in Westlake and Canoga Park, filled with imported snacks, cookies, traditional ingredients, beverages, and many other products from Guatemala.

Today, our newest chapter is our restaurant, where we proudly serve authentic Guatemalan dishes prepared using the same recipes, flavors, and traditions passed down through generations.

What started as a way to survive during one of the most difficult times in our lives has become something much greater: a place where people can experience the warmth, flavors, and traditions of Guatemala.

Every loaf of bread we bake, every meal we prepare, and every product we place on our shelves is a reminder of where we came from and the community that helped us get here.
